Prior to getting wonderfully messy, I was able to capture some cute moments between brother and sister. He is the most amazing big brother ever! He was so involved during his sister's shoot. He did everything he could to make her smile. It was adorable!

And who could resist photographing this face? Complete sweetness.

I will apologize now for the multitude of pictures in this sneak peek. I edited a TON of pictures from this session and had a hard time trying to figure out which ones to post. This was Little Miss L's one year session. She was a trooper in the heat and she even battled it out with balloons (but you'll see that the balloons won). We ended this session with a "smash the cake". She LOVED it, until she realized that she was messy and had to be cleaned up. Princesses don't get messy!

Between diaper changes, snack times, diaper changes, meal times, nap times, errands, diaper changes... okay you get the picture... and trying to maintain a sense of myself I haven't pulled my camera out as much as I would like. It's the everyday moments that mean the most to me. Like capturing Harper's favorite place to "chill out". These are the moments that are going to make me laugh and cry years down the road...

And these are the hand prints and footprints that melt my heart....

And these are the innocent moments that I never want to forget...

And these are the times that I love to watch her explore her world...
I desperately need to get her out to do her 18 month portraits though... especially since she is about to be 19 months. Maybe this weekend? I love this kid!

As most of you know, I am a natural light photographer who almost always photographs outdoors. Well, I am now in the process of setting up my home studio at the request of many clients. I am very excited about it!!! We held this session indoors with my new backdrops. I love how they turned out! I had so much fun photographing this gorgeous 4 month old! We laughed the whole time. You will see more of this beauty soon beacuse we are doing another session with her, her sister and her mama. I can't wait!!

Now that Finley is a little over 2 weeks old, I think it is time to wrap up her newborn sessions- I mean the kid has only had about 50 sessions now. I tried so hard to get pictures of Harper and Finley together. I even busted out the sucker bribe. The first two pictures are the only two decent shots I got of them together, but I'll take it! This weekend I start back with sessions, so check back for pictures of more cuteness!

She's here! She's here! My baby girl is finally here!!! Finley Jacqueline was born on April 23 at 12:23 weighing 8 lbs 2 oz. This delivery was even easier than my first! After 4 easy hours of labor Finley arrived with a full head of crazy black hair! Here are only a few of her newborn portraits... I am obsessed with the first one. I can't wait to post more pictures of my sweet girls- you know there are lots more to come.

The next 4 weeks are going to be amazingly nuts around here! My sweet baby is going to be a big sister in the morning!!!! I am scheduled to deliver my second daughter tomorrow. I am having every mixed emotion possible- everything from crazy excitement, to exteremely nervous about how life is going to change, to complete guilt thinking Harper is going to feel replaced, to feeling overwhelmed with blessings. Do you think the hormones are setting in or what?

I will still be holding a few sessions over the next few weeks- 2 newborns (both in the next week), a 1 year session, a 6 month session, 2 product shoots, a mommy and me session, and lots and lots of pictures of my baby girls. Everything is scheduled to jump right back into multiple sessions a week starting May 29th. Summer sessions are flying so contact me if you want to reserve your time.

Heeeeee's here! Baby Love has arrived! He is 5 days old... so sweet, so little, and so new. I just love him. He was funny to photograph. He would fall asleep just long enough for us to pose him and get "the shot". Then he would wake up and fuss! A passy and a quick cuddle from mom or dad was all it took for him to get ready for the next shot. Mom and Dad have waited a long time for him. He is the true definition of a blessing.

Congratulations Jamie and Greg. I feel fortunate to be a part of capturing John Parker's milestones over the next year. Many memories to come!

I love this sweet angel. I am blessed to be so close to her mama. It was my privilege to be able to photograph Sadie's 1 year portraits. I remember getting the phone call from her mama she was going to the hospital to have her. I was so sad that I was out of town that weekend. I wanted to be there! I raced to the hospital as soon as I got home the next day. She was perfect then and she is perfect now. She is a little ham! When Sadie gets older I think her personality is going to be the type who is quiet and reserved until you get to know her. Then this crazy goofy person who makes you laugh constantly is going to come out. That is my prediction... I guess we'll see.

Sweet, wonderful, precious Joshua Peter has arrived!!! Well more importantly, he has a name!!! How perfect is he?!? I had a lot of fun photographing him. He sure did make me work though. He HATES to be naked. So all of my ideas of those cute curled up naked shots went out the window. Oh well... I guess I'll have to save those for another session.

I'm not sure where to start when I tell you about this family. Instead of telling you a long story, I am just going to describe them: blessed, amazing, loving, playful, close-knit, humble, caring, beautiful.... okay those words aren't even doing them justice. This family has been through more than I can imagine this year. They have held strong to their faith through everything. My goal for this shoot was not to just get good shots, but to capture the love that this family has for each other and to freeze these happy moments for them.

I promised you more pictures of this beautiful mom, so here ya go.... We turned this maternity shoot into a double shoot. We were able to squeeze in her daughter's 5 year portraits. I love that I was able to use some techniques that I normally don't use like in this first image. I had fun stepping out of my typical style to add in some texture and vintage colors. You will see this family again soon when their baby boy arrives in a few short weeks!!!

"Flat Head Max" is my husband's nickname for my precious nephew, Max. This adorable monster is 5 months old and just received his Doc Band 2 weeks ago. His head already looks SO much better. I want to introduce you to Blake. I had the pleasure of photographing Blake and his family a few weeks ago. Blake has a beautiful smile, a silly personality, loves chocolate ice cream, hates being cold, and has cancer. You would never know by his beautiful smile what he is going through. His battle is not over. He is constantly going to dr. appointments, going through test after test and receiving radiation.

How beautiful is this mama?!? Our shoot was originally scheduled for outdoors, but due to a crazy change in weather we moved it inside. We have rescheduled our outdoor shoot for next weekend. But I love this impromptu session!!!! I don't think we could have planned it any better. Her daughter was awesome at just popping in when we called her, jumping in a few shots and then running off to go play. I am in LOVE with this first image. Isn't she just beautiful?!?! This session was a sort of reunion for me. I went to jr. high and high school with Alison and we haven't seen each other since we graduated. Now she has 2 super cute kids and I am about to have my second. Funny how we all have to grow up- ya know. I laughed so much during this shoot. Not at the kids, but at Alison. She had the most hilarious ways of trying to get her kids to look at the camera!!! I was in tears laughing when I got home and was thinking about her phrases. But with all of her hard effort, we finally got a few shots with Hunter looking at the camera! Miss Parker was full of smiles though and was a piece of cake to photograph. A few posts ago I promised you more cuteness from Mr. G.... and boy did he deliver!!! Well, I can't post these pictures though without telling you the story behind them. So we have rescheduled this shoot a few times. This was our 3rd attempt due to weather, and it rained AGAIN on this day! We decided to just go for it no matter what. We just thought rain was our biggest worry.... who would have guessed that a mega busted lip and LOTS of blood would be what our real concern was?!?! Mr. G fell and busted his lip right open. I am talking gushing blood. Oh it was heartbreaking!!! After the shock subsidded and he had an ice cream to make it feel better, we began shooting. Despite rain, blood and a shaken up mama, his 1 year portraits turned out super cute. He is a trooper!!!! Happy (late) birthday G. XOXO

After my post earlier this week, I need to post something happier! So here is something to make you (and me) smile.....

I took this picture close to 5 months ago during a "Surprise Me" shoot. J's mom and dad wanted to find out the sex of their bun-in-the-oven in a unique way. They had the results of the sonogram sealed in an envelope. Then they packed 2 prop bags- one with girly stuff and one with boy stuff. I took J into a different room in the house and opened the results.... it's was a boy! So we played with the boy props and took lots of pictures. I turned the pictures into a gallery mount storyboard to announce the surprise! Within a week, their board was ready and they found out the results. The storyboard is now hanging in the new baby's nursery.... waiting for his arrival... in a few short weeks. I CAN'T WAIT!

It has been a tough week. I lost my wonderful wonderful grandfather last Wednesday. It has been a sad time for my family as we selfishly greive. I say selfishly because it was truly his time and he is now resting comfortably. The pastor who conducted the service yesterday, who is also one of our cousins, made the most incredible statement. He talked about how death came as a friend to my grandfather. That is so true.

I have been reflecting all week on my life- just thinking about how blessed my life is. I wanted to pick up my camera and start taking pictures of everything around me that I am blessed with. Of course, the first thing I turned to was my baby girl. Just being her beautiful, silly, incredible self. It was funny, in a way, how much I needed my daughter this week. I needed her hugs, her love, her goofiness, her kisses, and her attention. I needed her to snap me back to reality when I wanted to just be sad. It was a realization to me how much I need her everyday. I love photographing her playing in her playroom. I laughed at these pictures after I loaded them. While I was needing her so much, she just needed her best friends- her passy, 2 Taggies blankets, her mouse and her Taggies frog we call "Silly Frog".

What did I do to deserve my amazing husband, my beautiful daughter, my 2nd baby girl due in 7 weeks, and all of my blessings? I am truly lucky and I thank my lucky stars for everyone in my life. I can honestly stand by my photography name- Cherished Memories.

Nothing was going to stop this shoot. It was raining 20 minutes before our shoot was scheduled, but we knew we going to get to great shots no matter what. This couple was up for anything! I love creative freedom!!! There were a few shots I had planned that we weren't able to get since there was no sun and the ground was soaked, but the weather opened the door for many other ideas. I cannot wait to meet Baby Love in April. He is lucky to have such fun parents!!!

.... is what Mom and Dad kept telling their kids as they were being silly during the shoot. I thought the kids did great and they were so much fun! They were a typical brother and sister- they would pick on each other, laugh at each other, and then go play with each other. These kids were dressed perfectly and I truly enojyed this photoshoot. You can see the love this family has and the individual personalities through these pictures.

Jackson is such a boy's boy! His 2nd birthday was all about sports, sports and sports. Here is a funny Jackson story: I was over at his house talking with his mom. A football game on tv and I swear he started saying "Mama, hot guys! Hot guys!" I thought it was hilarious but I didn't say anything. It wasn't until I got home that I realized he said "Mama, Hawkeyes! Hawkeyes!" His daddy went to Iowa, so needless to say, Jackson was not cheering for the hot guys!!! Hahah.

"Carry laughter with you wherever you go." I have officially made that the quote for Jon and Embree. They laughed the whole time and it was wonderful! Embree's mom was there and she kept saying, "Isn't he just a ham?" It cracked me up! There is no question as to why this couple is getting married. They truly are PERFECT for each other. I wish you two many many many amazing years together and a beautiful wedding in Cabo!

10 months old

What! 10 months old! Really? Already? That means that 2 months from now she will turn 1! Noooooo! This year has gone so fast, but it has by far been the best year of my life.

The hats that Harper is wearing are from www.debiscreations18.etsy.com. Debi has GREAT hats and other neat 'goodies' that can be custom made. These hats are SO soft. Harper loved them! And besides the obvious use of keeping your baby's head warm, they make for amazing photo props (as you can see). Check Debi's page out!!!!

I mean really.... does a family get any more perfect than this? Beautiful, fun, happy and easy going. What more could I ask for? This session was also Baby G's 6 month portrait session as well. He sat up all by himself! You could tell that he was so proud of himself. He is freakin adorable. Here is a small glimps into the 409 shots that I got. Yeah I went a little snap happy, but I just couldn't resist.

Oh my gosh! I couldn't open my gallery mounts fast enough! I am not the best product photographer, but holy cow.... they are incredible in person!!! Gallery mounts can be printed in numerous sizes and colors. I have this one hanging over my daughter's crib. I am ordering two more to match one of my Inspire Guides (see the Inspire Guides post). The possibilities are endless on these!

STORYBOARDS

The 10 x 20 storyboards are the perfect way to showcase your favorite pictures from your shoot. I am SO excited to get mine in. The qulaity is AMAZING. They can be printed on stryene board or the beautiful gallery mounts. Both make a great statement!

After I took this picture of my daughter, it inspired me to write a list of my top 10 photographs I MUST capture of her in the next few years.....

10. throwing a temper tantrum
9. playing with her first real friend
8. the last time she sleeps in her crib
7. playing in her mommy's high heals
6. walking around in her daddy's boots (I love kids' feet)
5. playing with the wrapping paper from her Christmas presents this year
4. her facial reaction when she takes her first steps
3. being tossed in the air by her daddy
2. the first time she goes in the big girl potty (blackmail for later)
1. the first time she colors on the wall, breaks something big, and cuts something up that she wasn't supposed to beacuse I know it will all happen one day.

These are all of the little memories that will one day seem SO BIG. I went to visit one of my best friends and her daughter this weekend. I attempted to take pictures of her putting her daughter in time out. We kept talking about how we will one day forget the temper tantrum phase. It is so important to remember all of these moments. Take a step back and capture them.

Is this boy not the cutest thing ever?!? I am slightly biased since this is my nephew, but hey he is so very cute. He is turning 3 going on... ummm... 3. Talk about a typical boy but with a huge heart. We had a great day driving around Childress, TX- Hickville, USA. We started our morning playing on old trucks and ended with walking around the John Deere lot. His Sissy came along and decided to jump in a few shots. You have to check out the sequence of the last three pictures. Hilarious! Enjoy the pictures of my beautiful niece and nephew.

Cupcake Birthday

I had a great time photographing little Miss S's 1st birthday party. The theme was cupcakes and it was so cute! Cupcake pinata, cupcake cake, cupcake bib, and the list goes on. The colors were beautiful, Miss S was in the BEST mood, family was gathered, and the party was perfect.

I was able to capture every tiny detail that might have otherwise gone unnoticed or have been forgotten- the first taste of cold ice cream, the birthday hat hanging on the chair, the first time Happy Birthday was sung to Miss S, or Mom's handwriting on the calendar. I LOVE photographing special moments like these.

What a fun day! Miss A's mom was willing to trust me when I said dress her in bright colors and let me give her a bunch of candy! This session turned out exactly how I planned- bright, fun, silly and lots of sugar. Miss A was so cute. She would open up a sucker, lick it and and put it back down. Then she kept asking to eat the gum. I got a shot of her with a huge wad in her mouth. This was such a great afternoon.

She's turning 1 so she had to smash the cake!!

This family is beautiful! I had a blast with them. We found some unique places for this shoot and it made for amazing pictures. I tried to only pull out my favorites from this session but there are soooo many. Birthday girl was in a great mood so mom and dad were too (we all know how that goes). It was super hot out, but you would never know with all of these smiles. I am so thrilled with how great these pictures came out!

This natural frame was begging for a picture.

So I never pose my clients... except for this one picture. It always looks awesome and different with every family.

This session ended with the birthday girl getting a bath in the park's fountain. We figured no one was going to arrest us with the birthday girl there. Those were some great pictures too. Smashing the Cake sessions are a blast at any age.... no need to stop after the 1st year. Keep it up, just have more napkins ready.

A new baby creates a whole new family

I was honored to do this session for one of my closest friends. She is such a great person and I just love her family. She just had a beautiful baby girl and has a 2 1/2 year who never fails to crack me up. I found this wall (yeah that's right a wall) and it set the tone for the whole shoot.

Sisterly love starts early

I don't think I have words for this one .... just beautiful.

I do not like to pose my clients. It takes away from the true in-the-moment memories. No need for poses here- I was able to capture them in action and it made for great shots.

This was the last shot we took after we were all covered in sweat from the 104 degree temp. It was a perfect ending to an incredible session.

Mr. J and the Train

I had so much fun with Mr. J and his mom. I found the most perfect spot for his session. Tucked behind some shops are two old and run down train box cars that are sitting on a section of the tracks that is no longer in use. Mr. J got out of the car with a huge smile on his face and had a blast plaing on the big choo choo! Here are some of my favorite shots...

You just think your little one is so big until you see him try to step over the train tracks. Your big boy becomes so small again.

Who knows where his path will lead him, but for now it is one step at a time.

This beautiful hair and his gorgeous eyes will take him far......
